Which documents can I use to verify my Purpl membership?

2 min readUpdated 4 August 2026

Purpl accepts a range of documents that confirm you are disabled or living with a long-term health condition.

We accept the following documents to verify someone's eligibility to join Purpl.

Documents must be valid and show a future expiry date or a letter dated within last two years.

What must my document show?

Your document must be:

  • Valid and in date
  • Clear and easy to read
  • Fully visible, without important details cropped out
  • In your name, or in the name of the disabled person you support
  • Able to confirm your disability, long-term health condition or disability-related award

For benefit letters such as PIP or ADP, we normally need to see the whole first page, including your name, address, award details and the date of the letter or award end date.

For a Blue Badge, upload the reverse side showing the photo, name and expiry date in full.

Do you accept digital documents?

Some digital evidence may need extra information.

For example, we may ask for:

  • Extra screenshots showing your personal details
  • Evidence from your NHS app
  • A forwarded email from your doctor or health professional
  • A photo of a digital card displayed on another device

I can't find my disability benefit letter, what can I do?

You can request a copy of your entitlement from the DWP.

Can parents and carers use someone else’s document?

Yes. Parents and carers can create the Purpl account in their own name and upload the disabled person’s evidence, as long as they have permission.

We do not accept documents that prove you are a carer. The evidence must confirm the disability or long-term health condition of the person you support.

Are there any documents you do not accept?

Purpl does not accept:

  • The National Disability ID Card
  • Selfies instead of disability evidence
  • Bank statements
  • Carer documents on their own
  • Expired documents
  • Blurry, very small or heavily cropped images
  • General medical letters that do not confirm an eligible disability or long-term condition
  • Universal Credit screenshots that do not show the disability or LCWRA component

What if I do not have an accepted document?

You can ask your GP or another health professional to complete Purpl’s Disability or Long-Term Condition Confirmation Form.
