Our first Purpl Community Grant Fund awarded £2,422 of practical support to eight Purpl members selected from 250 applications, helping fund mobility equipment, sensory items, daily living aids and an adjustable bed.
The first round closed at the end of June 2026, and successful recipients received their funded items by the end of July.
The aim was simple: to provide practical, needs-based support that could make everyday life safer, easier or more independent for disabled people and people with long term health conditions.
The next Purpl Community Grant Fund round will open in early October 2026.
The fund is supported by money from brands working with Purpl. The more members use Purpl offers, the more we can show brands the value and spending power of our community. That helps us secure more brand investment, better offers and more opportunities to put money back into initiatives like the Community Grant Fund.
So when members save through Purpl, they are not only reducing their own costs. They are also helping us build a stronger case for brands to invest more in the disabled community.

The first round supported a wide range of practical needs.
Funding included:
The grants ranged from smaller everyday mobility accessories to larger pieces of equipment that would otherwise have been difficult for members to fund themselves.
Purpl Insight: The extra cost of disability does not look the same for everyone. Sometimes the right support is a wheelchair. Sometimes it is a commode, a sensory product or something that simply makes everyday life easier.
The best part of the first round has been hearing what the equipment has meant to the people receiving it.
Gina received an Etech Mobility LiteMax 2 lightweight electric wheelchair.
She told us:
“It has really changed my day-to-day life. I am now able to get out more independently and do the things I want to do, as I had been relatively housebound with pain and unable to use the manual wheelchair.”
The chair would have cost Gina more than £850.
“This is huge for me; it would have taken me forever to save this much.”
Isaac received a VOCIC rollator with a built-in seat.
Living with post-concussion syndrome following a brain bleed means he experiences dizziness, chronic fatigue and pain.
The rollator gives him support while walking and somewhere to rest when he needs to.
“This has allowed me to regain some independence as I am able to go on walks with my partner again and participate in more activities outdoors.
Receiving the grant means a lot to me, it’s allowing me to regain my freedom back in areas that have been affected by my health condition, like my mobility. Being able to get around with more ease is crucial for independence and I can see the difference that this grant has made in my daily life.
I’ve saved some money with Purpl because I used the Morrisons voucher in the past, this has helped me reduce the amount of money spent on my weekly shop.”
Misbah received a framed commode and portable bidet from Essential Aids.
Because her only toilet is downstairs, mobility difficulties made reaching it at night increasingly painful and difficult.
“Having the commode in my bedroom has given me much more independence and peace of mind. I am truly grateful to Purpl for choosing me for this grant. This support has genuinely made my life easier and improved my day-to-day quality of life. It has allowed me to manage my health and pregnancy with greater comfort and dignity.
Without the Purpl Community Grant, I would not have been able to afford a commode myself. As I rely on benefits and have ongoing health conditions, the grant saved me the cost of buying essential equipment that I urgently needed. It has reduced financial pressure on me while ensuring I have the support I need at home.”
Ron received an adjustable motorised bed and mattress from Sleepkings, which was delivered, fitted and installed for him.
“I would like to sincerely thank Purpl for awarding me a grant for a motorised bed. I am very grateful for your support. The motorised bed will significantly improve my comfort, independence, and day-to-day life, making daily activities easier in light of my health conditions and positively enhancing my quality of life.
I also appreciate the additional benefits of being a Purpl member, including savings on groceries and other essential items. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.”
Sunaban received support for her autistic son, Qasim, including a sensory swing from JumpKing and additional sensory items from Sensory Direct.
“He absolutely loves spending time on it, and it has become one of his favourite activities. The swing helps him regulate his emotions, stay calm, and enjoy safe sensory play.”
She added:
“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in making this possible. Your generosity and support have had a real impact on our son’s wellbeing and our family. We truly appreciate everything you have done.”
Purpl Insight: What matters most is not the product itself, but what it makes possible: leaving the house, walking with a partner, feeling safer at night, sleeping more comfortably or enjoying sensory play.
Purpl exists to help reduce the extra financial pressure that can come with living with a disability or long term health condition.
Discounts are one part of that, but we also wanted to create a way of giving practical support directly back to the Purpl community.
Our first round received 250 applications, showing just how many different types of support people need.

“That’s why the Community Grant Fund is so important. We wanted to provide practical, needs-based support that can make a tangible difference to someone’s everyday life.”
