To renew your Purpl membership you need two things - an active subscription and a valid proof of disability document on your account. If the document we hold has expired, upload a newer one before your renewal date. It takes a couple of minutes and you don't need to cancel or re-join.
Why am I being asked to verify again?
Your proof of disability isn't a one-off check. Most of the documents we accept have an expiry date or an award period, and we need a current one on file to keep your membership active.
So when your membership comes up for renewal, we look at two things:
- Is your subscription payment up to date?
- Is your proof of disability or eligibility still in date?
If the answer to the second one is no, you'll be asked to upload a newer document.
Please note: you won't be able to access discount offers until you have updated your document.
How do I check whether my document has expired?
On the website
- Sign in at purpldiscounts.com and go to Profile.
- Scroll to Verification Method.
- You'll see the document type we hold, its expiry date, and a label in the corner showing whether it's Valid or Expired.
In the app
- Open the app and tap Profile.
- Find the Verification Status card.
- You'll see a Valid or Expired label, which document we hold, and the date it expires.
If it has expired, you'll also see a message telling you to update it before your membership renews, and a button to do exactly that.
What happens if it expires before I update it?
You'll still be able to sign in and browse, but you won't be able to reveal or claim discount codes. If you try, you'll see a message saying "Your proof of disability has expired" with a link to upload a new document.
Uploading a new document restores your access - you don't lose your membership, and you don't need to start again.
How do I upload a new document?
On the website
- Go to Profile and scroll to Verification Method.
- Select Add a newer document.
- Choose the type of document you're uploading.
- Read the guidance for that document, then upload your photo or file.
In the app
- Tap Profile.
- On the Verification Status card, tap Add a newer verification document.
- Choose your document type, then take a photo or select a file.
You can upload a JPG, PNG or PDF, up to 20MB.
Can I update my document before it expires?
Yes, and it's the easiest way to avoid any interruption. You can upload a newer document at any time - you don't have to wait until the old one runs out or until your renewal date. The new document simply replaces the old one.
If you know your renewal is coming up, it's worth checking your verification status at the same time.
What if my new document isn't accepted?
It has likely gone through to manual approval and we will contact you if we require further information. See How long does verification take and how do I check the status?
