Sea Life Brighton is the oldest continually operating aquarium in the world, combining original Victorian architecture with modern marine conservation exhibits and touch pools.

Disabled access is available at SEA LIFE Brighton. There is a disabled access entrance located through an underpass from the beach that can be accessed via the ramp down to the beach. The underpass leads out into the courtyard and therefore avoiding the steps down to the entrance. The underpass is also useful for those with a buggy. We also have a disabled toilet available.

There is only one area of SEA LIFE Brighton which does not have full access and this is the Ocean Display in the auditorium, however, this display can also be seen from the Ocean Tunnel which is accessible.

Our friendly staff who carry out all of the talks in the Auditorium will always leave the talk via the underwater tunnel, specifically to speak to any wheelchair users or people with pushchairs who were not able to attend the talk session upstairs.

Please also note that there is a step that runs alongside some of the displays in the Victorian arcade which means wheelchair access is restricted by approximately a 70cm distance.

This aquarium is proud to have a Changing Places facility available for use via a Radar Key. Including an electrically height-adjustable adult-sized change table, privacy screen, peninsular-shaped toilet, electrically height-adjustable sink, dimmable lighting and a larger access door.

All main routes into Brighton will take you to the seafront. Follow the fish symbol on the brown tourist signs or look for Brighton Pier and we are situated right next door.

If you're travelling south from London, follow the A23 down London road until you hit the seafront.

Travelling East from Portsmouth or west from Eastbourne? Follow the A27 until it merges with the A23.

The nearest NCP is under the Waterfront Hotel, a short walk from our entrance. Unfortunately, seafront parking is not currently available as it previously was.

Alternatively, you can park at Withdean Sports Complex and catch the 27 bus to the SEA LIFE Centre. Tickets are £5 for a return.

Guests with accessible needs are entitled to a free carer ticket for one personal assistant/carer who accompanies any disabled guest. All visiting guests except for the carer require a purchased ticket.

On the day of your visit, you must produce any one of the below documentation.

1. Entitlement to Disability Living Allowance for children under 16 or DLA/Personal Independent Payments (PIP) for those aged 16-64, either in the form of a letter stating that the benefit has been awarded, or the actual Allowance book.
2. Attendance Allowance or Carer's Allowance letter of award
3. Incapacity Benefit books, or a letter notifying the recipient that the benefit has been awarded Incapacity Benefit, Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Disability Students’ Allowance (DSA), or DID card (UK Disabled ID card).
4. A valid Blue Badge
5. In the case of visual impairment, a registration card known as the BD8 or a Certificate of Visual Impairment (CVI)
6. Credibility’s Access Card with the carer/companion symbol
7. An International Equivalent of the Above
