Can you claim VAT relief on CareCo mobility equipment?
Yes. CareCo participates in the UK VAT relief scheme for disabled people and those with qualifying long term health conditions. This allows eligible customers to purchase certain products designed or adapted for disability without paying VAT.
Products that may qualify include mobility scooters, wheelchairs and other specialist equipment.
To qualify, you must have an eligible disability or long term health condition, and the product must be intended for personal or domestic use.
CareCo identifies eligible products on its website with a VAT exemption label.
How do you claim VAT relief at CareCo?
When purchasing an eligible product, complete the VAT relief declaration during checkout.
You'll need to provide details of the qualifying disability or medical condition and confirm that the equipment is for personal or domestic use.
You generally don't need to provide a doctor's letter or medical certificate, but you must make an accurate declaration.
Importantly, VAT relief and the Purpl discount are different forms of saving. Having a verified Purpl membership doesn't automatically mean you're eligible for VAT relief, and not every CareCo product is VAT exempt.
Read CareCo's VAT exemption information.
Can you try CareCo mobility equipment before buying?
One of CareCo's biggest advantages is its network of UK mobility showrooms.
Buying a wheelchair, mobility scooter or riser recliner online can be difficult when you're unsure which size, seating position or features will suit you.
CareCo showrooms allow customers to see equipment in person and try suitable products before making a decision.
You can compare:
- How comfortable a wheelchair or mobility scooter feels when seated.
- How easily a scooter can be steered and controlled.
- Whether a wheelchair folds and fits your transport requirements.
- How a riser recliner supports your body and assists with standing.
- Whether a walking aid is the right height and feels stable.
CareCo's showrooms also offer step-free access, customer toilets, parking and product demonstrations.
Staff can explain product features and help you compare different options, although a showroom demonstration isn't a substitute for an occupational therapy or clinical assessment where one is needed.
Find your nearest CareCo showroom.
Does CareCo offer home delivery and installation?
Yes. CareCo offers different delivery services depending on the product, including a Home Installation service for larger mobility equipment.
Standard large-item delivery: CareCo provides free standard delivery for qualifying large items, normally within two to three working days. Its two-person delivery service can bring your equipment into a room of your choice, subject to access restrictions. Standard delivery may include unboxing, but it doesn't automatically include assembly, demonstrations or packaging removal.
Home Installation: CareCo's optional Home Installation service is designed for customers who would prefer someone to assemble and set up their mobility equipment. This can be particularly helpful for people who can't lift heavy boxes, struggle with assembly instructions or need assistance understanding how their new equipment works. CareCo aims to complete Home Installation within 10 working days of placing the order. Charges depend on the product and service selected, so check the price before ordering.

Why is CareCo working with Purpl?
At Purpl, we know that mobility equipment can be one of the biggest additional expenses disabled people face.
A wheelchair, mobility scooter or suitable chair can be essential to everyday independence, yet replacing or upgrading equipment can cost hundreds or even thousands of pounds.
That's why we're pleased to partner with CareCo.
By offering our members an exclusive discount on eligible mobility equipment, CareCo is helping reduce some of those costs. Its nationwide showrooms and product advice also give people the opportunity to find equipment that genuinely works for them.
