Active Hands design and source products for people with reduced hand function. They are well known for their gripping aids which help many disabled people access the gym but there is so much more to Active Hands.
Their shop features a wide range of products to make all aspects of life more accessible to those with disabilities affecting their hands. Active Hands have products to help with personal care, cooking, eating, gardening, working out, and many more activities.
Their products can help people with disabilities such as Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Limb Difference, Arthritis, Charcot Marie Tooth, Brachial Plexus Injury and Tremors.
One of their Directors, Rob Smith, suffered a Spinal Cord Injury in 1996 which left him with partial paralysis in all four limbs. Despite all the difficulties this brought, his greatest frustration was his reduced hand function.
Unable to find a pre-existing solution, Rob worked with his Mum on her sewing machine to make a gripping aid. These early designs have developed into the gripping aids they sell to this day.
Over time, more and more people asked Rob where he got his gripping aids, and so The Active Hands Company was born.
Active Hands is still run by the Smith family, and has gone from strength to strength. Since becoming a Limited Company in 2007, Active Hands have taken on a team of staff, an industrial unit to work from, and over 100 new products.
They now ship to users all over the world, who are overjoyed to find solutions to their physical limitations.
Their mission is to reach and help more and more people with hand function disabilities to enable them to take part in numerous activities as independently as possible.
