Welcome to Purpl. To join our community and enjoy all the benefits we offer, we need to verify your disability status.
Why Verification Matters
Purpl is a ‘closed group’ discount community for people with disabilities, created to help offset the extra costs of living with a disability.
Verification is essential because it ensures that our members meet the eligibility criteria, which helps us secure the best possible discounts from our brand partners. This process maintains Purpl’s integrity and allows us to continue providing valuable offers that truly benefit you.
Getting Started: How to Prepare Your Documents for Successful Verification
To get verified, you’ll need to upload a clear photo of one of the accepted proof-of-disability documents. A list of accepted documents is further down.
Here’s a quick checklist for capturing the perfect shot:
- Full Document: Ensure the entire document is visible in the photo
- Good Lighting: Take your photo in a well-lit area to ensure all details are visible
- Flat Surface: Place your document on a flat, neutral surface
- No Shadows: Avoid any shadows that might obscure information
- Right Angle: Capture the photo from directly above to avoid distortion
- No Flash: Flash can cause glare, so try to use natural or ambient light
- Check Clarity: Make sure the photo is in focus and all text is readable before uploading
Accepted Documents
Below is a list of accepted documents you can upload to verify your disability status. We aim to make the process as straightforward as possible, but to maintain consistency and efficiency, we rely on standardised documents like PIP, Blue Badge, and similar recognisable forms of proof.
Individual diagnosis letters are currently not accepted because they vary widely and are challenging to automate in our verification system, requiring us to verify details such as the issuing source, professional credentials, and universally recognised disability status.
If you can’t find your latest disability letter you can contact DWP for a statement of entitlement https://www.gov.uk/guidance/request-your-personal-information-from-the-department-for-work-and-pensions
If you don’t have any of the government or council issued documents you can apply for one of the following cards which you can send your hospital/diagnosis letters to:
Access card https://www.accesscard.online/ – will give you a card if you have evidence that shows requirements for access – cost £15 for three years
The Disabled ID (DID) Card will give you a card based on a diagnosis like autism/ADHD as long as you have the correct evidence https://www.did-card.co.uk/ – costs £17 for two years (including postage) If you select ‘Purpl’ from the dropdown list for ‘how did you hear about us’ you can get 6 extra months on your card.
You can use either of these to register with Purpl.
For more details on the information we need to capture and photo examples, please see our upload guide
Please note that we do not accepted digital copies of letters as they can be easily falsified, therefore we sadly cannot accept UC with disability component unless you have an actual letter that you can photograph.
